Salt Garden Project

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup household ammonia
  • 1/4 cup laundry bluing
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • food coloring

What you need to is to soak a peice of sponge, brick, clay pots or porous rocks in water until thoroughly wet - which ever you want to use. If you are going to use a sponge you will need to wring out excessive water so the sponge is just wet. Arrange these favorite wet pieces on a glass or ceramic shallow dish, (may ruin metal surfaces when you do this) and then just pour the mixture of water, ammonia and bluing over wet item or rocks until evenly spread out.

You can drop a drop or two of food coloring on the rocks for added coloring that will look great. Sprinkle the salt evenly over the rocks, using lots of salt. Within a few hours your garden will grow and be covered with crystals! Great colored look!
